How does the use of a Cairbag® affect a transport company?

Complete stability of a tank truck
For trans-border transport of liquid manure there is a chance that the tank cannot be filled completely whilst there are still cubic meters available, when the total weight exceeds 40 ton. Due to the maximum load capacity in Germany which is 10 ton lower than in The Netherlands, there is free space in the tank, giving the load the space to slosh. The sloshing of the load has a negative affect on the stability of the vehicle and therefore also on the driving style. The Cairbag® contributes to road safety as it prevents roll-overs and jack-kniving of the tank trucks.

5% fuel savings (Energy Investment Reduction (EIA))
When stabilising a Cairbag® the load does not loose energy due to the dynamic sloshing of the load. A bend can also be taken at higher speed, using less energy to accelerate. In addition, baffle plates are no longer necessary when using a Cairbag®, creating a substantial reduction in weight. These (energy) savings result in a fuel saving that is of such importance that the investment of the Cairbag® is taken into consideration for the Energy Investment Reduction (EIA).
The 5 % fuel saving is underpinned by TÜV Nord and consists of the following components:

3% fuel savings on the internal combustion engine as no energy is lost due to the dynamic sloshing. (Underpinned by TÜV Nord).

2% fuel savings as baffle plates are no longer necessary when using a Cairbag®. By replacing baffle plates with a Cairbag® there is a weight reduction of up to 1000 kg.

Shortening of breaking distance
When using a Cairbag® the breaking distance of a partially filled tank truck will be shortened. As the Cairbag® ensures that the load forms one mass with the tank truck, the driver has better control over the vehicle. Where a moving liquid mass creates more forces, the Cairbag® prevents these. At the highest speeds used in practice, one can break abruptly with the ABS control.

Legal compliance (EN12195 & VDI2700)
By using a Cairbag® the legal requirements as stated in EN-12195 and VDI-2700 are met. In General it is determined that at a filling degree of between 50 and 90 %, without using a Cairbag®, it is not possible to fullfil the requirement that a vehicle must be stable at a lateral acceleration of 0,5 G.

More return due to higher loading capacity
When using a Cairbag® the use of traditional baffle plates is no longer required. The weight reduction due to the omission of the baffle plates can be used to increase the net loading capacity. For a transport company, this means that more can be transported every trip and that there is more return on every driven kilometer.

Precise registration
When applying the Cairbag® the load is one entity with the tank truck, making it possible to weigh faster and more precisely on the weighing bridge, as it is no longer necessary to wait until the load is no longer in movement.
